Three
Pines Studio and Gallery was founded in 2000, by Gene Reck and Joann Condino.
We are in our sixth year of operation. We have added to our existing fiber
studio, a 400 square foot studio dedicated to clay. Three Pines is a working
studio in the arts and crafts tradition. The Studio features work by more than
50 northern Michigan local artists. The galleryıs wide selection of work is
based on originality and artistic merit. In addition, we offer a wide range of
workshops, special demonstrations, and activities for all ages.

Parfleche or Container Workshop
To Nativie Americans, Parfleche was a container of folded or sewn
rawhide elaborated with painted abstract images on their
exposed
surfaces. It was a powerful tool for women that served an
intellectual,
emotional and spiritual expression.
Come join us in creating your own personal Parfleche
container, which
can be used to hold journal notes, drawings, photographs,
collections
of postcards, stamps, or whatever your heart desires.

A beautiful
handmade journal can help you express your inner life

Kids Art Trading Cards
Like other cards that have been traded historically,
i.e., baseball cards, artist
trading cards are 2 ½ x 3½ and are traded (never sold) between artists. Learn how to make, trade and begin to
collect this miniature art form.
Make your own trading cards. Paint, print, embellish them.
Trade at the end of the workshop. Make some to take home
& trade.
Use a special stamp for the back so you can give your stats.

of your blue jeans. It is a special kind of vat dye. The color develops when
the fiber is exposed to the air.

Learn how to weave a 68ft. diameter domed hideout woven from
local tree branches.
We will build one here and you will take a kit home to build

Weave a Boa!
Spend a fun day weaving a fabulous fashion accessory! I
provide the warp, you bring the weft@120 yards of a fluffy or fuzzy fiber
(knitting yarns are perfect). Weıll measure the warps, thread the looms and
weave the boas in class. How frilling! Beginners and experienced weavers
welcome.

Art To Wear Jacket Workshop (3-Day Workshop)
This workshop emphasis is not sewing but creating with
color and fiber. Using batik and other amazing fabrics you
will alter a sweatshirt into an ³art to wear² jacket. Transforming
it into a vehicle to express your love of color and pattern.
Some
sewing skills are necessary. Students will need a sewing
machine
in working order ( a limited number will be available) and a
new or
old sweatshirt ( at least one size larger than you normally
wear).

Threads Gone Wild
Learn to create richly textured and brilliantly colored art
fabric using
silk fibers and threads with exhibiting artist, Diana Call.
If possible, bring a sewing machine (in working order) with
a free
motion embroidery foot.
There will also be machines available at the workshop.
