“Eventually, my eyes were opened, and I really understood nature. I learned to love at the same time.” ~ Claude Monet
Plein air painters are typically artists who love being in nature. The physical act of entering the wilderness and seeking those quiet out of the way places where the unique act of developing a
piece of art can occur can be a wonderful experience. I can say that looking for that perfect spot can be my favorite aspect of being a plein air painter. Once I find that perfect place, then theres an anticipation of good things to come as the sun travels the sky and the unexpected delights that can arise. I have to remind myself to wait, be patient, to not become hurried but to allow the act of observation be my guide.
“Between The Lines” is the culmination of work born from the love of this beautiful place we call home, northern Michigan. Telling this story through my work has become a source of joy.
